THREE “SAINTS” IN BERLIN
On 13th August was inaugurated in Berlin Gavin Evans’ exhibition entitled THE TRINITY. It collects the shots of the three celebrated rock artists: David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Nick Cave, with the German capital as a trait d’union. The subtitle is in fact: “Three zeitguys that Berlin changed and… changed Berlin”. A place that indoubtebly was very significant for part of the careers of these great musicians. The British photographer had the privilege to collaborate with David in a great mood, while he was recording 1.Outside. From that photographic session are here presented some really profound close ups to the artist.
Some of them had a good diffusion (two are on the cover of the bulky and paperly catalogue from the David Bowie Is exhibition). Others shots were jokingly improvised by David with a silver plate, using it as a halo to imitate the pictorial iconographies of Saint Peter. During the last months Evans’ photos were exposed in many European countries and now you can enjoy them in the Berliner gallery The Institute, in Holzmarktstraße, till the end of October.
